Success Stories

Kisii County has made progress to increase access to improved sources of clean water to its residents

To increase access to safe and clean water for residents for domestic use and support agriculture through irrigation, the
county embarked on a programme to sink boreholes in each of the 45 wards. The boreholes are located in public
institutions and are fited with hand pumps. The end programme is to develop the boreholes into water reticulation schemes to also serve residents surroundings the public institutions.

Up to 25 boreholes were initially drilled through contractual terms in Boochi Tendere, Ibeno, Boochi Borabu, Bogeka,
Nyamasibi, Machoge Bassi, Keumbu, Tabaka, Moticho, Bogetenga, Bogetaorio, Kiamokama, Gesusu, Bogusero, Nyakoe,
Kitutu Central, Nyatrieko, and Bassi central wards. But to make the effort affordable and effiient, the county procured a rig to help in drilling of boreholes and this machine shall speed up the work in several sites across the county
